Suitable for every country that has the driver position on the left side of the car.
For countries that have the driver seated on the right hand side of the car, this option is perfect. Consists of a mirror-image dash with the driver binnacle on the right side, and a steering rack designed to mount on the right side. The normal center spine chassis offset of 2" to the right is reversed, and is instead 2" to the LEFT of center.
Existing mirrors, wiper system, etc., are suitable for either side, so are unchanged.
These are great shocks, and have double-adjustability, allowing 12 different settings for compression, and another 12 settings for rebound. Compatible with hydraulic and air lift kits for raising the front end over bumps. See the factory for details about fitment with the optional lift kits.
The next upgrade from the standard QA1 shocks, these are true race shocks that are specially valved for Superlite by Penske. Based on their 8300 series shocks, these are beautiful, and of course, have the external reservoir for better cooling of the shock fluid. A great choice for aggresively-driven street cars, track day cars, and all-out race cars. Uses the same springs as the standard shocks, and are compatible with the optional hydraulic lift system.
A further improvement over the 8300 series shocks, these allow for even more adjustment for the ultimate in shock tuning.
These are QA1's latest 4-way adjustable shock. They are adjustable for compression, rebound, slow-speed bleed and high-speed bleed. Mostly aluminum and anodized an attractive red and black, these shocks stand out as well as perform. Provided with remote canister configuration to allow mounting flexibility.
Similar in performance capability to the Penske optional shocks, these are noticeably less expensive, better looking and offer more adjustability than the 8300 series.
They offer the following features:
All SL-Cs come with a minimum of a 6-point "roof structure" (our attorneys don't want us to call it a roll cage). This consists of a front hoop that roughly follows the windshield, a rear hoop that is over the driver and passengers heads, two parallel bars that connect the two hoops, and two stays that tie the hoops to the rear suspension/chassis for rigidity. Great for the street, and accptable at most track day events. For racing, or serious track-day cars, upgrades are available.
This option adds to the standard 6-point cage with higher and stronger side-impact protection in the form of large bolt-in structure that runs along the sides of the cockpit. Takes a little room in the cockpit, but there is lots of room there to be used. Great for track-day cars that will see serious duty on track. Not legal for most wheel-to-wheel racing (see our NASA/SCCA/FIA cage options for all-out racing).
These are similar to the normal side-impact bars, but are constructed to be removable for normal street use, and easily snapped back into place when track days are contemplated. Can be nicely integrated with the interior tub for stealth looks!
Real wheel-to-wheel racing is what the SL-C does very well, as evidenced by numerous race wins, a National Championship and lap records everywhere. Such racing requires a robust race cage, and Superlite is well-qualified to build one that is SCCA, NASA and FIA approved. We've built many approved cages, understand the rules, and know the complexities of building cages for aluminum-chassis cars. Because every car is different in terms of owner desires, sanctioning body rules, etc., every one is different. Contact us to discuss your requirements and we can give you a final price- these cages start at $4995.
Only valid when ordered with a Complete kit, as the cage is constructed as the chassis is assembled and welded, so once a chassis has been completed, it's usually too late to economically build a fully-legal cage.
The standard steering column is an OEM one with integrated switches for lights, wipers, etc., and comes complete with OEM plastic cover for a great interior look. Comes with collapsible section that is OEM designed and approved.
For race-only cars, this power steering column may be subsituted. Installation requires small chassis mods (included in the price), and the default OEM column with switches, plastic surrounds, etc is replaced with a single shaft race-style unit with an integrated power steering module that is driver adjustable during an event. If the power assist fails, the system reverts back to the normal manual steering with no more effort than if the unit had been turned off.
Not compatible with the stock, unmodified dashboard- you will typically build your own in a race car, or modify the stock dash to fit.
Only available at the time of a Complete kit order.
The stock ball joints in the SL-C are way over-engineered, as they are originally from a 4,000 lb truck. But racing can be severe, and occasionally failures occur. If you race your SL-C with stock balljoints, consider lifing them out after 30 hours. Or, consider replacing them entirely with this track-day option that replaces the ball joints entirely with a race-spec racing rod-end setup.
Includes new race-spec rod ends, and billet mounting cups. Provides much longer life (every track or race car should inspect and life out parts as a matter of course, and these are no different- they just last a lot longer).
Set of 4, one for each corner.
Not for street use, as they reduce the turning circle (normally not a problem in a track car).
This is a complete race suspension for race cars only. Though the geometry is virtually the same as the street car suspension, the design is very different. Camber is adjusted quickly with easily replaced shims- 1/2 degree per shim. No ball joints, only race-spec rod ends and joints. Race spec wheel bearings similar to the ones developed by Corvette Racing for extreme duty.
Specific race-only uprights are able to be machined to fit a wide range of racing quality brakes from Brembo, Performance Friction and many others.
Not for street use, as turning circle is reduced, overall suspension travel is reduced, and ride is noisier.
